Response to Report: Coral almost as genetically complex as humans

A Coral reef is a very complex ecosystem. It is responsible for harboring highly productive algae that use the energy from the sun to conduct photosyntesis and produce sugars. Corals have been around for millions of years. They also produce “calcium carbonate that becomes the hard stuff that is their house” on which they sit. The coral reef has thousands of species of fish and many other marine life form. Algae lives in the coral and is the bottom of the food chain. Little fish eat algae bigger fish eat little fish and so on. Scienctis now belive that the coral and the algae talk to each other and live side by side but now scienctis think that the break down of coral communiction with the algae is cuased by pollution and climate change meaning that they can’t communicate very well. The coral thinks that the algae is a parisite and destroys it.pollution is destroying the coral reefs and more then half of them are in great danger.
